Has anyone heard of any update from Onefinity on the 80mm mount for the larger spindle and when it may be available?
nothing yetā¦
I thought it was out for beta testing at Myers workshop. I posted a question about it on Facebook, got a like but not an answer. Will it be a hole new z plate or???
yes, there are some testers using one. weāre not sure yet which way it will be offered. when we have more info weāll make sure to release it.
For now Iām going to stick with the router till the 80mm upgrade is released. Two reasons:
-
A $100 router? Thats a pretty cheap investment in order to get through a learning curve.
-
And most important for me is I would much rather take the dollars it would cost for a 65MM spindle, wait and apply it towards the 80mm which is ultimately what I really want.
I just cannot imagine it taking longer to develop a mount, as it did to receive my CNC from purchased to shipment. Can anyone relate?
I am also following this with interest. Ordering the new mount, when available, will be an easy option when ordering a new OF CNC. I am curious though how those with their machine already at home will upgrade. It does not look like swapping out just the mount will be easy given the way it is an integral part of the assembly - I can see this leading to headaches for both owners and the OF support team as they work to swap it out. If the new 80mm spindle option is offered as a complete z axis package, buying it as an upgrade later would be expensive - selling or returning the 65mm z axis package does not seem feasible.
Got notification of my spindle being delivered earlier today. The Mrs works out of the house and also sent me a picture of the box. I cant wait to get home and unpack it. I hope t have time to wire it up over the next couple of weekends between doing things for my daughter who is getting married on the 16th.
My Onefinity order 11422 is due the week of 1/25
Please help with my confusion, the 110v 1.5kw er11 states that it is 110v, but the description states that the spindle is 220v. Does the inverter change the input voltage of 110v to an output voltage of 220v to the spindle? The reason I ask, is when Onefinity does release the 80mm mount I will go that route, but I donāt have 220v in the garage. Thanks
Chris, I cannot answer that at the moment. When I unboxed my spindle last night just to check it out was the first time I had ever put my hands on a spindle. My current CNC has a Dewalt DWP611 hand held router on it. This is an upgrade for me for when I get my machine in a few weeks.
Hello All,
I am eagerly awaiting my onefinity, I decided to go with the water cooled spindle for the noise factor and the control of the spindle speeds as well, I purchased a Huanyang VFD and Mophorn water cooled spindle on amazon as it seems these are becoming harder to track down, I pieced it together with the Amazon protection plans for about 275 (USD) give or take, If I am not mistaken you can use a larger VFD with a lower powered spindle in anticipation of getting a larger spindle (80 mm). This seemed like a decent compromise in my mind. I would love to here the community thoughts on this.
Also has anyone used a Belden VFD cabling for the spindle to VFD ?
Hi Grant. Have you had a chance to test the spindle and VFD? Would you recommend it? Thanks
Roberto, I have had it for a week now and it is just sitting there taunting me. My daughter is getting married this weekend and I have not had time to work with it. I will be all over it like white on rice very soon.
Is there any specific advantage to running a spindle at 220v vs 110v? I can run it either way, so just curious.
Hey gangā¦ is there any question or concern regarding the 1F machineās capacity to support a 2.2Kw 80mm spindle? Or is it known that the 1F machine can handle the spindle weight/power and only its physical mounting is the concern? Thxā¦
Only that there is no 80mm mount yet.
You need to run the spindle at the rated voltage on the name plate. For example, the Huanyang 800w spindle requires 110v. For that spindle, you can run it with a 110v FVD or a 220v VFD. The spindle voltage is one of the parameters you set in the VFD.
Spoons99205, How is the Huanyang VFD and Mophorn Spindle working? Looking to buy for my upcoming shipment of the onefinity and was wondering if you would still recommend both?
Is anyone with the spindle upgrade running speeds faster than what the Makita is capable of and is there a significant performance gain in speed and feeds in real world use? I am trying to understand what benefits there are besides being more quiet, lasting longer, and slower rpms. I know what the technical specs say what the spindle is capable of but looking for more real world results with the OF.
I wouldnāt say that a spindle allows you to do more than you could with the Makita router - at least not when confined to 65mm mounting restrictions. The spindles that are 65mm (1.5kw or 800w) are not significantly more powerful than the Makita.
Quieter, more precise (less run-out), longer lasting, better speed control, and controllable from the controller (off/on, and speed) are the main advantages. More complicated, and higher cost on the disadvantage side.
