Up and running with the Journeyman!

Ok, the unit was delivered 10 days ago…. 9 days ago I came down with COVID… so I was able to slowly over the last week get the table top finished, unit installed, and everything set up.

When I built the torsion table top I screwed up and it was crowned by 2 mm in the center. I was able to surface the top of the table as my first project! Next I made sure everything functioned properly and get a basic spoil board in place and re-rout some wires.

I got a solid monitor stand and some longer usb c cables and a longer hdmi cable. Made a custom back plate and used the (really crappy) monitor holding bracket, screwed to the back plate. Works way better and much more secure as well as keeping the monitor out of the way.

Fired up easel… (I need to choose better software) and did my first carve of some Japanese characters (summikko gurashi) from a colouring page I downloaded.

Tomorrow is to make a hose and router wire guide so it can do its thing without me holding the hose and wires out of the way……

Overall 8/10 Onefinity!!! -1.5 for the stock monitor mounting bracket/system and -.5 for no spindle option….

I can’t wait to do some more routing!!!

Perfect! Good move. Save a project, and learn while you’re at it.

I. Can’t. Wait.
8 weeks down, 6(?) to go

I know it sounds as a stupid question
My reason for checking is that on this forum I’ve read where some have bought cables that didn’t work
I’m trying to avoid that
I did figure it’ll be availble from Amazon my question should’ve been which are the correct ones

Not OP, but I replaced my HDMI cable and USB-C cables as well. I got them at Wal-Mart, available in store. I also got a swivel adapter for the HDMI cable at Home Depot. It was overpriced, but by getting it locally, I had easier recourse if it didn’t work. Links below for everything. One of these days, I’ll get pictures of my setup and post them.

Good move when trying things out. If there isn’t a glaring price difference, like 3x as much locally, I’d try it and if it works return that to the store and order same one online and have it in 2 days.
