Vfd will not run any faster than 7200rpm even when set to 18,000rpm

I am hooking up my vfd control cable to my masso. I bought wire so all I have to do is wire the VFD and plug it in to the bottom of the masso.

I am able to turn on the VFD by hitting the spindle button. When I go to load a file to see what it does, I have the spindle set to 18,000, but the VFD is only showing 7,200.

Spindle - 1.5kw 110v 400hz
VFD - HUANYANG Model - HY01D511B

I set the settings in the VFD.

070 - 0
000 - 0
001 - 1
002 - 1

I checked my settings and they are what is called for.

Can anyone advise the easy fix for this?

I have been all over the place and changing settings too. I need someone who had this issue tell me what they did.

What did you enter for the number of poles?
Pat

I second the number of poles problem. I can’t remember the setting, but maybe PD142 or PD144 perhaps (check your manual). Whatever is set on yours, try changing it to the other setting, some are 2 pole and some are 4 pole.

I give up and now tried to get the VFD working to where the knob will control the speed and cannot get it back to where I can control the knob like I was before.

I used this document to set up my HY 2.2kw VFD and spindle. I believe for some of the settings you can refer to the manual and spindle. This was incredibly helpful for me. I have a Onefinity Elite Journeyman.

Hey Keith,

it is useful to

  1. Read the Fine Manual
  2. Use the search function of this forum,
e.g. to find → this and → this

you can control spindle on/off and spindle speed from different sources:

You control “Source of RUN command” with PD001, where the value is 0 = Operator, 1 = External terminal (setting for MASSO G3), or 2 = Modbus Communications Port (for Buildbotics)

You control “Source of SPEED” (Operating Frequency) with PD002, where the value is 0 = Operator 1 = potentiometer (onboard keypad panel or external potentiometer according to jumper setting) = 0–10 V analog voltage, setting for MASSO G3), 2 = Modbus Communications Port (for Buildbotics)

Open up your masso and double check your wiring for your spindle. I had a problem with my vfd being able to turn on and off via masso, but not change the speed. Turns out the masso was wired incorrectly from the factory. It’ll take just a few min to double check the wiring.
