Z Axis homing error

Hi

My life is being made a misery by homing my machine. X and Y home fine but Z always raises an error. I “hits” the sensor, as if it has traveled 1 or 2 mm too far up. Has anyone any idea how to remedy this.

Thank you
Owen

Hi Owen, the X35/X50 do not have a homing sensor to hit, they rely on stall homing. For this to work correctly the machine should not be at either limit of the travel of the axis. If you have changed any of the homing parameters in the controller you should change them back to the factory settings. Have you installed any add on components to the machine? There are a some such as the ball screw wipers that can affect the behavior of stall homing.

Ooops, I should have posted this in the Elite section

Does the sensor light illuminate? I suspect there’s a problem with the wire, switch, or connection

Yes it does. It works after multiple attempts and reboots (as in 30-40). I know it is a setting, I just don’t know which one.

Does f1 have all the switches listed? Should be 4. XYZB. Maybe a setting got changed inadvertently.

I was having homing errors and it turned out to be bad stepper motors.
