Error 'utf-8' code cant decode

Tried to use 1F for first time to surface spoil board, now machine is froze trying to process new file (for several hours now). Is there a reset button on controller? Cant delete file nor do I have access to any functions. I shut down and restart and home machine and error pops back up. Need help.

Can you upload the file and explain how you created it?

created file in Carveco it kept giving me errors and wouldn’t run machine, stating invalid word “IN”. So I opened code in word pad and removed “IN”, then reuploaded and now froze.

After editing I don’t think the file ended up as a PLT File

This is what I used…

It’s not a gcode file. If you’re frozen you will need to delete the file using command line. Be careful all command are case sensitive and space are important.

note: Edited step 6 on 2021-04-23. Edited step 1 (ssh portion)

Procedure

  1. Connect the touchscreen and start up the controller as usual. This operation can be performed on the touch screen. It will also work if you try to perform it via ssh from network (then go directly to step 5).
  2. Plug in the USB keyboard to one of the free USB ports on the back of the controller.
  3. After the controller boots up, you should see the machine control interface.

Capture

  1. Using the keyboard, hold down the Control key and press the “t” key followed by the “c” key. (Control-t, Control-c) This should open up a new terminal window.
  2. To locate the file, type the command: ls -lart /var/lib/bbctrl/upload
you will see an output like this one
    total 1304
    drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Oct 17 2019 …
    -rw-r–r-- 1 root root 1327086 Apr 17 19:29 your filename.nc
    drwxrwxrwx 2 root root 4096 Apr 17 19:29 .
  3. To delete the file:
    a. Type the command: sudo -i
    b. Type the command: rm ‘/var/lib/bbctrl/upload/your filename.nc
    type rm[space][squote]/var/lib/bbctrl/upload/your filename.nc[squote]
  4. Reboot your machine: Type the command: sudo reboot

Thank you! I will try this.

I haven’t used carveco but there should be instructions somewhere on exporting toolpaths as gcode. Gcode is the only thing you upload to the controller.

please try again the original command. there is a space after ls and -lart

continue to step 6. be careful the are other space. Maybe also in your filename

Step 6. To delete the file type: rm ‘/var/lib/bbctrl/upload/youre filename.nc’

my file name is- Surfacing x.plt.txt

do i need to add “.nc” after file name?

you have to use exactly your filename as found (i.e. the bold part of step 5). it’s case sensitive and space are also important
