Nice work, can I ask what font youv’e used in the Anita and Dylan plaque?

And was the stella cap a 2d or 3d carve?

Lots of cool projects there! Are those coasters v-carved or laser etched?

It was a V-carve…I used a 90 degree V-bit for all the lettering.

They are V-carved. I don’t have a laser (yet)

The font is Harrington.

I mean the cap ridges on the stella piece, how was that created?

The Stella cap was a 3D carve and my longest carve to date. I used the 3D model that came with the V-Carve Pro software. I sure wish I knew how to edit the G-code to eliminate the first 168,000 lines that basically was carving out the flat part of the cap which I really didn’t need it to do since my Z0 was the board surface and was at the same level as the cap top.

Using Vcarve, just draw two vectors around the area you do want to cut… Like the cap border and then a circle just inside of the cap shaped portion. Set the 3D toolpath to cut to vectors. It will limit the 3D cutting to the portion inside your vectors. I’ve done it on large serving trays with molded interior shapes around the edges.

Hope that makes sense. Nice work by the way. I’ll have to use that bottle cap. Didn’t even know it was there.

The bottle cap is great, I’m gonna have to try that one.

That is awesome…exactly what I need. That should knock about 3-4 hours off the carve time.

So cute! I love making classic toys. How’d you attach the wheels?

Thanks!

The wheels are just glued to a 1/4 dowel. They spin freely, but it doesn’t roll very well because the wood wheels have no traction

We wanted to mark some of the plant’s in our garden so we don’t accidentally pull them up in the spring. I found these bamboo tags on amazon, 30 for $10. We’ll see if they survive a Buffalo winter.
