What would be really great is if they sold a table that allowed a rotary to be installed and removed as needed. When not needed a blankoff could be put in place in the table. Possibly it could drop down below the table when not needed and to raise it up when you want to use it. That would eliminate it not being parallel when installed and the touch plate could be fixed to the rotary.

My first idea was to use two 100 x 60 x 1.5 mm steel profiles with the length of the two Y rails and place them directly under the rails, from front to end, one on each side, and to put this on some base. This has much more stability as just riser blocks under the feet. But for maximum stability and versatility I decided that I will weld a U-shaped base (in the future, will show when ready).

My plan is not to use a table top at all, but to weld a U-shaped base from steel profiles that holds each Y axis at its sides and has a space in between for things like rotary axis or higher workpieces, and a system of height-adjustable wasteboards / machine beds.

Such a U-shaped base could maintain the open character of the Onefinity machine for workpieces longer than Y worklength (tiling). Such a base could also be annealed for stress relief in a furnace to make a perfect machine base.

Mote that nobody would have to think of riser blocks if people wouldn’t mount their machine on a table top, but on an open frame.

My main motivation for a U-shaped base is to have a rotary axis there (lower than the wasteboard position, and in combination with a Universal Z assembly that lets the spindle protrude lower).
