My screen froze on file processing and wont allow for clicking on anything or firmware update.
You have probably already worked through this issue. I apologize if this is not helpful. It seems so basic but I am new to this so please bear with me. I had the exact issue with the Masso G3 Touch. I learned that the log in screen occasionally pops up on the f1 page after I thought I had already logged in. User error, newbie not doing it right whatever. Even still the screen will occasionally freeze. I click through to make sure the password field did not pop up. So far this has solved my freezing issues.
Hey Bradley,
you posted this on the category “Original/PRO” so you have the buildbotics-derived Onefinity Controller? If so, you should check the touch device which is a USB device inside the monitor, but has a connector and cable of its own. Therefore you need three (3) cables to connect the touch display: The HDMI signal cable, the USB touch cable, and finally the display power cable. Check that all are seated properly and that the USB touch cable is a full USB cable and not just a power USB cable.

May have posted in wrong category. I pre-ordered my machine during the initial launch. I had my original controller for about 3 years and it died so i had to buy another controller. Ive had it for a few months and now its frozen. I believe i will need to reset the sd card. I saw an old video on this but was hoping for an easier fix. Its really disheartening that after only a few months i am already having to open this up and work on it. I want to love tgis machine but the tech is proving to be unreliable. I imagine thats why they are pushing towards the masso units.
Hey Bradley,
this does not sound like you posted in the wrong category. The X-50 Series are now the PRO Series and they share the controller with the Original Series.
The SD card is accessible this way:
Please be aware that switching the controller off with the switch will not disconnect the internal power supply from power! You have to physically unplug the power cable!
To rewrite the OS image, you need a SD card writer and a pc to connect it.
The Onefinity Controller SD card image files are here:
(the *.img.xz files)
However before you do this, I would connect a USB mouse and / or a USB keyboard to one of the USB ports and see if it’s really frozen (or just the touch device is not working). Also you could attach an Ethernet cable (see image above) and log in via ssh and see if the controller responds.
I have a monitor, mouse, and keyboard hooked up. Its frozen for sure. Im 99% sure i have to wipe the sd. I work long days so ill probably start the process this evening.
Update:
I was able to reflash the SD card using their youtube video. It seems to be functioning again. Hopefully just a fluke and no more issues.
Turn my machine on today…frozen again…ugh
Hey Bradley,
wood dust on the pcb or overheating can make this. The solution would be sufficient dust extraction, enclosing the controller in an enclosure with a big fan and a HEPA filter, and replacing the noisy small fan by a 120 mm fan in the top of the case. If the system freezes it is certainly the smaller upper pcb which is the Raspberry Pi. I don’t think it is much ventilated should the environment be hot.
Should wood dust be the cause, I would use a ESD-safe brush to try to clean the pcb. Or you remove the pcbs and use CRC KONTAKT LS to clean them.
Also if you had a problem with the SD card, I would not overwrite the old one but buy one of good quality (Sandisk brand).
I do have decent dust extraction and there wasnt any noticable dust inside the controller when i opened it. Again this is a brand new controller that honesrly hasnt been used much at all. Ive had this controller for about 3 months and only used it maybe 5 or 6 times.
Hey Bradley,
the only thing I think of is, you could write to support@onefinitycnc.com. The controller should not freeze.
Thanks, i sent them an email
